The Mini-Beadbeater-1 is a high-energy cell disrupter designed to process one samp♣le at a time. Featuring four shaking speeds and a digital timer, it i♦s conveniently used for processing up to 20 vial samples per day. Conside★r the MBB-16, MBB-24 and MBB-96 for larger through-p£ut. Protocols developed using different models of the' MBB are transferable within the MBB series with little, if any, modification↓.

The Mini-Beadbeater-1 violently agitates a sealed microcentrifuge vial containing cells ×or tissue, extraction solution and tiny glass, zirconia or steel beads. Even r☆esistant yeast or fibrous tissues are completely homogenized in abou$t 3 minutes in 0.1 to 1.0 ml of homogenization medium. The non-foaming, non-aerosol metho>d preserves enzymes, nucleic acids and organelles. Ide®al for PAGE, polymerase applications and diagnosis using antibody or o¥ligonucleotide probes. Recover high yields of intact DNA or RNA by simultaneous di♦sruption and extraction in phenol, Guanidinium-SCN solutions or commer✔cial kit reagents . Sterile techniques are easily accommodated to recover int<racellular virus and bacteria from plant and animal cells. Because th♠e beads and vials are disposable, there is Absolutely Zero cross-contamination between samples - essential for PCR te>chniques.
The Mini-Beadbeater-1 can also be used for dry grinding. He₩re, steel beads are added to hard samples such as hair, •bone, teeth, seeds and minerals and are completely po♣wdered in 10-60 seconds. Softer materials such as biological tissue, rubber or p•lastics can be powdered by first pre-freezing the s∑ample to liq.N2 temperatures (Cryo-grinding).
